Why are people so attracted to drama? I know there have always been people who started shit but the nice normal people far out-numbered the shit starters. Now everywhere I look people are starting shit with someone. Is it the Internet? I think its the Internets fault.
People are all up in each others business with no face to face consequences. In my day (I am actually not that old - technology moves fast) you had to back up your shit talk and fight someone or retreat to a safe distance and learn not to do that again. Now a days you can say all sorts of heinous things from behind your keyboard or phone and claim it is your First Amendment right. Well technically maybe it is, but we used to value human decency.
This issue also ties in to the notion of bullying. People have been bullying other people since the caveman days. Its the nature of survival of the fittest and human ego. Everyone should teach their children not to bully, but shit, these are the same people who are starting shit with people in their own lives. How can we expect those people to do anything to help. So conversely why don't you teach your child to value themselves. To not give a crap if someone doesn't like you. To not react to those assholes who try to get a rise out of you. Yes it is a very tough lesson but in the long run the most valuable. You are going to encounter bullies your entire life. Learn to deflate them by not giving a shit.
Just don't create little assholes and little victims. Deal?
I know this post is probably contradictory and all over the place but life is complicated. Life is messy. Life doesn't flow nicely down a winding river. Neither do my thoughts.
