Today is the Friday before Thanksgiving which means family is coming to town. My family is coming tomorrow around noon. That means my Friday evening will be spent cleaning my house till the wee hours to make it seem like my house is always spotless.
Spoiler alert: Its not. I have animals, a kid and a husband. I also have me. Life is messy when you are working full time, in kids sports, and have animals. Weekends are for straightening up from your weekly messes and sometimes weekends are for laying on the couch and watching football and playing games with your family.
I like having a clean house.
BUT sometimes other things are more important.
I like like having a clean house
BUT I also don't like doing it alone.
Motivation is tricky. My mom would say you should always have the motivation but the truth is I don't. I am iron deficient and always tired. Plus when I have the motivation, my husband doesn't. When that happens I either give in and not do it on my own, or I keep moving forward and clean on my own. When that happens I get passive aggressive and stew in my angry wife mode until he lives up to his cleaning responsibilities.
When you are young and dreaming of your life you never envision these things. You never think you will live like this. You will live in a beautiful clean home that smells of apples and cinnamon and is always ready for visitors to stop by. Then you move in to your own place and you realize that you have to actually make that happen. Sometimes adulting is hard as the young people say. I say it is always hard with good moments occasionally.
I hope your Friday night is filled with joy and laughter and apples and cinnamon.

What about Thanksgiving??
Hello Chit Chatters, (as if there are any)
I was listening to the local radio morning show yesterday and they asked, "When is it too early to put up your Christmas decorations?" Apparently someone on the show put up her Christmas decorations this past weekend. There was a large call in concensous that early November was acceptable. I was surprised but I guess I shouldn't have been. The Tuesday after Halloween I walked into my office and some of the guys had hung Christmas lights around their desk clusters and were playing Christmas music. On November 1st!!!!
To each his own but I feel like they are missing out on one of the better holidays. Thanksgiving is great. No gifts. Just food and family and disappointment.
Happy Holidays Turkeys!
